Crazy Crafters Blog Hop with Susan Wong - July 2017

Hi Crafters!

Welcome to the latest Crazy Crafters Blog Hop, hosted by the lovely Kylie Bertucci.  Each month we feature a special guest, and select one of their projects to CASE (Copy & Selectively Edit).  This month I would like to introduce you to our special guest, Susan Wong.

Susan Wong - Stampin' Susan

Susan is a fellow kiwi who resides in Auckland, New Zealand.  She has featured as a Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team twice in the past 8-9 years, and works collectively with some fellow Artisan friends on a customer rewards program called "The Crafty Carrot Collective".  You can view her blog here.

Susan's card I selected to CASE is as follows:

Bold, elegant and colourful.. the word "grateful" jumped out at me from the moment I first saw this card.  Teamed with the stamped star pattern behind the main image, and I knew this was the card I wanted to CASE! With everyone creating Christmas in July projects this month, I took inspiration from Susan's card to create this Christmas-themed card:

I love the traditional Red & Green colour palette when it comes to Christmas, and I wanted something unique to differentiate it from the many others out in the stampin' world.  What better than to use the NEW Embossing Paste! I gotta admit that this new textured product initially intimidated me as I have never used other mediums in this manner before, but after using it last weekend at a fellow friend/ demonstrator's home, I felt more at ease experimenting with it.  This fabulous paste can be mixed with liquid ink to create the colour & tone you desire, making it incredibly versatile.  On this card, I opted to keep it white but added sparkling glitter to add a wow factor without detracting from the main red & green theme and the stamp & framelit used.

The base cardstock was Cherry Cobbler, topped with Whisper White that had the sparkling glitter embossing paste layered for a textured effect.  To learn more about using embossing paste, please refer to my previous blog post here.  The main stamped image was taken from the Hello Friend stamp set, and inked using Stampin' Marker Pens in Garden Green & Cherry Cobbler.  It was placed on a Garden Green cardstock border, and the centre was cut out using the Wonderful Wreath framelits dies (retired).  The card front was then finished off with a Cherry Cobbler "Hope" that was cut from the Sunshine Wishes framelits dies using the Bigshot machine, and a gold trim bow.

The card interior was edged in Garden Green at the top and bottom, and then Whisper White was centrally placed with the sentiment stamped on, coordinating with the Hope word on the card front.  The sentiment used was a retired one, but you can easily substitute this with one of the lovely Christmas sets on offer in the catalogue.

I hope this Christmas card has put you in the Christmas spirit, and inspired you in your crafting journey.  If you haven't tried the new embossing paste, definitely give it a try.. it is super easy to use and creates a wonderful effect without the effort! You can purchase this in my Stampin' Up! Store.
