Watercolour Wings

Hi Crafters!

Today I'd like to share with you a fancy fold card featuring the gorgeous stamp set, Watercolour Wings.  This stamp set has unfortunately retired at the end of May, but the beauty of this card is you can change up the stamped images or sentiments to suit your occasion and this is certainly made easy with the superb selection of colour-coordinating Designer Series Paper packs.

Now, the card we are going to make isn't for the faint hearted.. it is a bit of a mission, but with a little patience and perseverance, I promise you it is worth it!

Watercolour Wings

Card Instructions:

1.  Take an A4 piece of cardstock and cut/ score as follows:

2.  Select 4 different pieces of colour coordinating patterned paper, and 2 coordinating plain coloured pieces of cardstock.  Using the Square Framelits Dies, cut out the following:

3.  Select where you want each segment of patterned paper to sit on your card.  Take the middle rear strip of patterned paper (positioned on your cardbase), and place the correlating square framelit die on top - you want the size up from the folding length that juts into it.  Using washi tape, gently adhere onto your patterned paper and lift away from your base cardstock.  You should have the die sitting 1/3-1/2 way on your patterned paper, and 1/2-2/3 off the paper.  Run this through your Big Shot Cutting Machine.  What you should be left with is the "U" shape patterned paper, that fits around the folding raised section in the middle of your card.  Adhere this using tombow adhesive glue onto your base card.  Adhere your front panel of patterned paper as well.

4.  Next take your largest plain coloured scalloped-edged square of paper and adhere your corresponding square of patterned paper on top.  Cut this in half diagonally to form 2 triangles (note you will only end up using one, the other one can be used towards a second card or scrapped).  Adhere the triangle onto the left raised rectangular portion of your based card (ie where the largest butterfly on my card is positioned), with the diagonal cut edge lined up against the scored, raised rectangular edge.

5.  Take your remaining scalloped-edged plain paper squares, and adhere the corresponding patterned or white squares on top.  The two smaller squares form your card front decoration, the larger square must be diagonally cut to form the two triangles that fit on the very right panel of your card (when laid flat).  The white (or in your case it may be plain coloured) square is for your main sentiment and this will be adhered onto the scalloped edged plain coloured card as well.  Stamp the white (or coloured) squares with your preferred sentiment/s - you can mix this up with heat embossing if you select a darker coloured cardstock.  Adhere to your card.

6.  Choose 2 stamped images that work well together - on my card, I selected the two butterflies from the Watercolour Wings stamp set.  A fellow demonstrator and friend of mine, Carolina Evans, made this card using the Magical Day stamp set and it looked really nifty too.  So play around with stamp sets to see what you would prefer.  Once stamped, cut these out using dies or by hand, and adhere onto your white squares as illustrated on my card.  And you're done :)

I hope you have enjoyed learning how to make this fancy fold card!

Enjoy the rest of your week, till next time...
